Is 65 points enough?
Sixty-five is the current minimum points threshold for the points-tested Subclass 189, 190 and 491 pathways. Reaching it can allow an EOI if the other criteria are satisfied. It does not guarantee an invitation, nomination or visa grant.
Three different questions
- Can I submit an EOI? You need the threshold and the other EOI requirements.
- Can I be selected? Invitation and nomination settings vary by occupation, subclass, jurisdiction and round.
- Can the visa be granted? You must substantiate the claims and meet all visa criteria after invitation.
Why a higher number is not a promise
EOIs can be ranked by points and other factors, but selection also reflects occupation and program settings. A historical invited score is evidence about one past round, not a target published for your future application.
What to do after calculating 65
- verify every claimed category on the official points table;
- confirm your skills assessment and occupation pathway;
- review dated invitation-round information for the exact occupation;
- for 190 or 491, read each jurisdiction's live criteria;
- keep the EOI accurate when circumstances or test results change; and
- do not claim future points before you satisfy the rule.
